Technical Data Sheet - ZE3010
Back to Articles Article Rating:

ZE3010 is a two stage process that involves plating, then subsequently coating the magnet. This leads to a durable finish that exhibits outstanding properties in the areas of:

a) Corrosion Resistance (high corrosion environments)
b) Abrasion Resistance (medium abrasion)
c) Chemical Resistance
d) Versatility

ZE3010 is applied to all surfaces of the product. Masking is not offered. The magnet may NOT be used with mechanical or chemical etching. The application of the epoxy coating is primarily done to seal the magnets from high humidity environments, while the metallic coating provides the strongest barrier to surface corrosion.

 Typical Functional Performance

Pencil Hardness

2H (epoxy top layer only)

Taber Abrasion
(CS-17F Wheel, 1 kg. Load, ASTM D-1044, D-51)

45 mg/1000 Cycles
(epoxy top layer only).

Corrosion Resistance

ZE3010 is only offered on large production runs (quantities in excess of 1000 pcs, total product weight must exceed 500 lbs.) of Neodymium Iron Boron magnets. Note that a R.010"(min) on all edges is required. This process is not offered when sharp edges are desired.
